• CALL FOR PAPERS on “Citizenship, migration and political participation”. ESA Research Network 32 – Political Sociology.

  The European Sociological Association’s Research Network on Political Sociology (RN32) is pleased to announce its second mid‐term conference, to be held at the University of Milan (Italy), 30 November and 1 December, 2012: “Political Participation and Beyond Multi‐level dynamics of inclusion/exclusion in times of crisis”.

  At the midterm conference, Rainer Bauböck (European University Institute), Derek Hutcheson (University College Dublin), Jo Shaw (University of Edinburgh) and Maarten Vink (Maastricht University) aim to put together two or three thematic panels focusing on the main conference theme of political participation, from the perspective of citizenship and migration. These panels are co-sponsored by the EUDO Citizenship Observatory. We are interested in particular in papers that address the link between public policies in the field of citizenship and migration, on the one hand, and sociological outcomes in the domain of political participation, on the other. Papers can have a qualitative or quantitative approach and be empirically or normatively oriented. Papers can focus on policies and outcomes at the local, regional, national or supranational level of government.

• EUDO CITIZENSHIP will generate new indicators through its ACIT project
  The European Fund for the Integration of Third-country Nationals has selected ACIT (Access to citizenship and its impact on immigrant integration) for funding. ACIT will generate indicators for citizenship laws, their implementation, acquisition rates and their impact on immigrant integration in 33 European states. ACIT will also organize stakeholder dialogues and produce citizenship handbooks in 10 EU member states.
