Our goals and services

Our goal is to provide academics, governments, international organisations and NGOs with information for research and evidence-based evaluation of public policies.

We do not offer information or counselling to individuals interested in acquiring the citizenship of a particular country and we do not encourage experts in our network to answer such requests.

Citizenship Case Law

Soon available

In recent decades courts have become more actively involved in decisions about citizenship status and rights. EUDO CITIZENSHIP has created a database collecting the most important national, European and international court decisions.

You can find here English summaries and the full text (in the original languages) of decisions by the European Court of Justice (ECJ), the International Court of Justice (ICJ), and the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) as well as information about national case law.

We have selected national court decisions that:

- have wider normative effect
- show something about the national citizenship narrative in each country
- represent key interpretations of contested questions
- concern the exercise of executive discretion
- involve human rights claims based on eg race, ethnic origin, etc.

You can search the database using the following selection criteria:

- country
- year
- keyword
- name of the ruling institution
